The evening event, titled “Gender, Society, and Education,” will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Peristeri City Hall Amphitheater (Karatheodori and Ethnikis Antistaseos Streets, Peristeri).
The event, which highlights the crucial role of education in overcoming gender stereotypes, is organized by the educational organizations “DIAKROTIMA Peristeri Nea Zoi,” “Eurognosi – Eurolab Peristeri,” and “Ek Vathion” — in collaboration with the Municipality of Peristeri and under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Deputy Minister responsible for demographic policy and family affairs, Ms. Maria Syregela.
It aims to inform the public about the psychosocial impacts of gender stereotypes and the role of education in overcoming them through interdisciplinary presentations, as well as to highlight the need for multi-level interventions and collaborations to eliminate them.
Students from our educational organizations will have the opportunity to ask the minister questions on issues related to education, human rights, and social justice
Specifically, the following will be in attendance and will give presentations: Ms. Maria Syregela, Deputy Minister of Labor for Demographic Policy and the Family; the mayor of Peristeri, Mr. Andreas Pahatouridis; Ms. Aikaterini Vrettou, Director of Studies at EUROGNOSIS – EUROLAB Peristeri and DIAKROTIMA Peristeri Nea Zoi, Mr. Theodosis Geltsis, educator and Director of Studies at DIAKROTIMA Peristeri New Life, the psychologist, family counselor, and director of the “Ek Vathion” Center for Emotional Development and Special Education, Ms. Evangelia Ziotopoulou, and the social worker from K.S.D.E.O. EDRA, Ms. Anastasia Apostolakopoulou.
The event, which will be open to the public free of charge, will be attended by civil society organizations, members of local government, members of parents’ and guardians’ associations in Peristeri, and citizens concerned about issues of gender-based violence and human rights.
